Of all the treatments for cellulite, laser treatments are perhaps the most controversial. Cellulite, which can continue to show up on different parts of the body for the duration of one's life, is a constant struggle for some people. Women are the most susceptible, although men can develop cellulite. Women have tried many different treatments in the past with little success. They have gone to great lengths to hide their cellulite by wearing long skirts and not visiting the beach. There are many creams and lotions that promised to help reduce cellulite, but none of them have lived up to their promises. So when a new treatment comes on the market, many women are afraid to spend more money on something that is not going to work. Laser treatments are the latest trend in cellulite removal. For years lasers have been used to correct vision problems, assist in surgery, have been used to reduce tumors, and also used in repairing organs without removing them from the body. Now lasers are being called on to reduce cellulite. The premise sounds promising since lasers can be used safely on the surface of the skin where cellulite likes to dwell. Different from body fat, cellulite cannot be reduced through traditional means such as diet and exercise. It is not caused by overeating or not exercising. Laser treatments promise to reduce the size of the cellulite lumps and return skin to its former glory. A small laser beam is run over the skin where the cellulite is the most prevalent. In theory, the laser should be able to reduce the size of the cellulite by melting fat away. The fat is removed from the body by the body which has some physicians concerned. Fat can be deposited in the liver or get lodged in the body causing blockage. This can lead to heart failure. This type of fat is meant to be removed from the body in traditional ways body fat can be removed. Body fat is stored fat used later on as energy. Cellulite fat cannot be used as energy. Therefore it is treated like a foreign object that must be removed. So far, laser removal has not had a lasting impact in cellulite reduction. Multiple treatments must be performed as the cellulite will return. The cells will continue to produce more fat even though some of the fat is gone. Destroying the cells only makes room for more cells. Cellulite is caused by a gene in the body that allows it to make these cells. Once the gene has been isolated and removed, the body will no longer be able to produce the cells necessary. This is the only way cellulite will be prevented form occurring over and over. Until researchers find this gene, people will have to seek other treatments like laser surgery. Reducing the appearance of cellulite if only for a few months is enough for some people. They are willing to pay lots of money maintaining these treatments. To them it is worth the money to not see as much cellulite on their thighs.

In this video laser is used in conjunction with liposuction, in a procedure called 'smart lippo'. I don't really recommend liposuction for cellulite - you're better off going with acoustic wave therapy which is non-invasive and very, very effective (liposuction can sometimes make cellulite worse). However, it does make for interesting viewing - if a bit gross. If you are at all squemish, don't watch!

Velasmooth cellulite treatment is a contouring treatment that is FDA cleared for cellulite treatment. The Velasmooth website does not say 'FDA approved', so I'm not sure what the distinction is. In any case, it appears to have some official support in relation to cellulite and body contouring. Velasmooth is a combination treatment. It uses massage, infrared light, bi-polar radio frequency and suction to help fight cellulite. The treatment seeks to shrink the size of the stored fat in the fat cells. It does this through the action of the infrared light and radio frequency on the skin. Skin is heated, which in turn increases the amount of oxygen available to cells, which in turn increases cellular metabolism. A vacuum device is also used in velasmooth cellulite therapy to dilate blood vessels and increase circulation. It increases the effectiveness of the other devices, and helps contour skin. Velasmooth is a pain-free, non-surgical treatment. It is often offered with mesotherapy in a package, however. In this case, expect some pain and discomfort - not from velasmooth, but mesotherapy. Of course, with mesotherapy, it does depend on the individual elements used, but a lot of women have reported discomfort and swelling after having mesotherapy. With velasmooth cellulite treatment there is no recovery time. In the sense that you can go back to work, or do anything else straight away, it's good value for a busy person. In fact, it can be extremely relaxing, and the website even says you may find aches and pains relieved! Whilst I haven't tried it, it sounds like a massage, and indeed, has been likened to one. However, there are instances where people should not use velasmooth. If:
  • you have superficial metal implants such as rods, plates or pins in the area that will be undergoing treatment
  • you have been a hernia patient and are expecting to have, VelaSmooth performed on your abdomen
  • you are pregnant
  • then you shouldn't have any velasmooth treatments.
Some people may find their skin bruised, but generally, this won't occur. But your skin might be pink from the heat just afterwards. The skin flushing doesn't last long, though if you get bruising, it can take up to 2 weeks to heal. Velasmooth cellulite treatment can be done on:
  • Hips (saddlebags)
  • Abdomen (love handles)
  • Buttocks
  • Arms
  • Calves
  • Neck
  • Bra line
You'll generally need at least 5 treatments to begins seeing results, and the recommendation is 10 to 12 sessions within 5 to 6 weeks. So, that's about 2 sessions a week. Velasmooth treatment costs vary, but $200 per session is about what it works out to be.

Cellulite can be defined as dimpled deposits of body fat especially on women's thighs, hips and buttocks. These subcutaneous pockets of fat cause the tissue holding the skin to underlying tissue to stretch. The causes of cellulite are still a mystery, but the specialists believe the lack of exercises, stress, and smoking and drinking, aging or getting fat may lead to cellulite. Fortunately, there are several treatment options available for women suffering from this condition. Among them are exercises, spa sessions, massages and self massages, creams, lotions, gels, pills, diets and even laser treatments. One of the newest anti cellulite techniques is the ultrasound treatment. Ultrasound is the newest and best form of heat treatment for any tissue injuries. Nowadays, ultrasound treatment is used to treat joint and muscle sprains, tendonitis and bursitis. The ultrasound treatment can speed healing, relieve pain and inflammation, increase the motion range or reduce the muscle spasms. More, this is a great treatment for cellulite. How does it work? Well, ultrasound machines produce high frequency sound waves. The sound waves vibrate tissues, penetrating deep inside the affected areas. This will create heat that draws more blood into the tissues. From that moment a recovery process automatically begins. The cellulite ultrasound treatment is given with a soundhead that is easily moved in strokes or circles around the area affected by cellulite. This process will usually last only for a few minutes and it can be realized with the soundhead alone or sometimes combined with anti-inflammatory cream, lotion or gel. Some feel this type of treatment for cellulite may be harmful. But most experts state ultrasound treatment for cellulite is perfectly safe and even less harmful than laser treatment. Ultrasound treatments can also be used to heal several injuries to the body. Where can you get an ultrasound cellulite treatment? Well, your physician can give you some advice on this; you can also look in your local yellow pages. There are special clinics that offer this type of treatment to any woman (or man) with cellulite. After undergoing your ultrasound treatment, you will have to rest for a few days, and rehydrate your body. In some cases, women feel very sick after the treatment, and a recovery process is absolutely necessary. This can be done both at the clinic and home, under the supervision of a specialist. If the treatment succeeds, it doesn't mean that you have no worries. On the contrary, once you manage to get rid of the cellulite on your hips, thighs and buttocks the real problems are just starting. You will have to keep cellulite at bay, and this can be even more difficult than removing it from your body in the first place. Exercise and massage are strongly recommended. In fact, all you have to do is to stay in shape, and improve your life style. This means no smoking, drinking and drugs, and definitely a healthy eating style. Cellulite affects both thin and fat persons, so if you are a slim person, don't imagine that cellulite won't affect you, because it comes as a shock when it does.

There are several major treatment options that specialists recommend for cellulite. Among them, there is one that is considered to be very effective. This is laser treatments for cellulite. Laser stands for "Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation" (LASER). This is mainly a light beam that can be accurately focused on one specific point. The laser can be used to treat human tissue by heating the targeted cells until they "rupture". It may also be used for decorative cosmetic purposes, including the removal of wrinkles, tattoos, or birthmarks. Although laser treatment for cellulite is still in its infancy, the process seems to have great promise in the field of cosmetic surgery. Some cellulite laser treatments are being used in Europe and many other parts of the world and women that have used it report great results. They also claim the cellulite laser treatments are more effective combined with other cellulite reduction techniques. One of the techniques that is compatible with laser treatments is endermologie. Cellulite laser treatment could also be used before or after liposuction, with great results in speeding and improving the healing process. One of the most revolutionary cellulite laser treatments is the Tri-Active. This process is the result of three different applied methods and it consists of: - six different lasers that have the role to stimulate microcirculation and neoangiogenesis; - a special cooling system, that can quickly reduce the collection of edematous; - A rhythmical massage that is able to stimulate the lymph draining pump. As you can tell, the process is complex, and leads to the elimination of tissue oxygenation and waste, restoring some connective tissue. The advantage of this is the treatment is very effective, and can be used both on the face and the body. This laser cellulite treatment provides a positive clinical answer to the treatment of cellulite by reducing fatty deposits and supporting therapy for liposuction. After the treatment, your skin will regain its finery, becoming velvety, smooth and radiant again. However several sessions are required, only one session is not enough for a complete cellulite reduction. This means it can be very expensive. But this is just an example; there are many other cellulite laser treatments available for you in the specialized clinics. After the laser treatments, there is a recovery process that must be strictly followed. If you are careful and follow instructions, there should be no further cellulite on your hips, thighs or buttocks. And, once you do get rid of your cellulite with a laser treatment, you must do what you can to keep it from returning.. This means exercises, self massages, spa sessions, playing sports, and so on. To find out more information on cellulite laser treatment, it is recommended you discuss your options with a board certified plastic surgeon that has some knowledge of the potential uses and risks of cellulite laser treatment and can tell you if you are a good candidate. Also, he will give you reliable information about the specialized clinics, treatments costs, recovery processes and so on.

When you think about spas you probably don't think about your cellulite. Instead you think about getting pampered and relaxing. In addition, you probably love thinking about getting primped and pretty. The truth is that many people do use spas for cellulite treatment options however. There are several spa treatments that are effective in treating cellulite. So, the next time you start feeling guilty for relaxing at the spa, don't. After all, you are not just getting pampered, but also treating your cellulite, which can be considered an important task. Take a look at these treatment options and how they work to help you and your cellulite.

Treatments To Choose

There are two main treatments you can get at spas that can be effective in treating cellulite. The first treatment is the massage. Many women and men visit a spa a few times a year to get a relaxing massage. However, massages can be effective in reducing the appearance of cellulite as well. In fact, if your massage therapist is trained in cellulite reduction, you may be able to notice a big improvement. While massages may help you with cellulite, they also are great for just feeling good and calming down. The second treatment you can choose to undergo at the spa is the body wrap. Many cellulite sufferers rely heavily on body wraps. With these treatments, the body is rubbed with special and natural solutions. Then it is wrapped in seaweed. You are often left in this manner for up to an hour and then washed off. This is a treatment that can reduce the appearance of cellulite as well. In addition, it is also relaxing, so you can enjoy yourself much more overall. The only problem is you must be sure to drink plenty of water when you get a body wrap because you may end up dehydrated if you don't.

Long Term Effects

The truth is that while massages and body wraps are great for short term benefits, they are unlikely to deliver results over the long term. In fact, you probably will see benefits for only a day or two. So, if you are looking for a long term treatment option, these may not be for you. You would have to schedule these treatments once a week or so. If you have the time and money to do so, you can go ahead. However, most people don't. The best way to find out if a massage or a body wrap will help your cellulite is to go ahead and schedule it and see what happens. If you do see the results you are after, you can go through with more of these treatments. However, if you don't quite get the results you are looking for, you know spa treatments are not for you. They do work differently for different individuals, so you shouldn't be discouraged if they don't work well for you. And at least you will leave relaxed when you go through these treatments, no matter if they help your cellulite or not.

Endermologie, the latest in a steady wave of treatments for cellulite claims to make the fatty cells disappear. This form of therapy and suction utilizes small rollers which gently massage the area where cellulite has developed. Experts in this new therapy claim the rollers are squeezing out extra fat and other material from the cells. After the rolling, this fat is removed from the body using suction similar to liposuction. The treatments need to be performed twice a month and can be very costly. Endermologie cellulite treatments have had some short term effects for some women. They say the cellulite disappeared, but returned in a few days. Continual treatment will be necessary to keep the cellulite from building up again. For some women though, this is enough to keep them going back for more treatments. For years, it has been thought that massage could reduce the appearance of cellulite. Endermologie cellulite treatments combine both massage therapy and liposuction together in order to remove unwanted fat from the body. With all treatments only time will tell if this treatment is worth spending time and money to maintain a cellulite free body. Other therapies are used which may prove even more effective. And gene therapy may finally find the gene which causes cellulite production in the body. Remove the gene and one may be cellulite free for life. Though not the most popular form of cellulite therapy, endermologie does have a following of women and massage therapists who believe in its powers. If nothing else, endermology is a good way to get a massage, especially if a person is stressed out and needs a way to relax. Massage therapy will smooth the skin, but only temporarily. There are no treatments available that will erase cellulite completely or keep it from returning. Only gene therapy, which is still being developed, offers any hope of eliminating cellulite. By comparing genes of those who have cellulite with those who do not, scientists are getting closer to finding the gene that causes cellulite to form. By removing this gene cellulite will no longer be produced in the body. This is good news for those who have a lot of cellulite and who spend lots of money trying to make it go away. But until that gene has been located, other therapies may help reduce the appearance of cellulite, which is enough for some women. Endermologie cellulite treatments can only be performed in a dermatologist's office or plastic surgeons office. Consultations are usually free and can provide a person with useful information. Ask questions about the procedure before starting any therapy program. Do not expect results immediately. It could take months to see any results. Some women claim the therapy works, while others say it does not. There is always a risk of limited results with any procedure. Many therapists claim it can take over a year to see any significant reduction of cellulite in women. But if it will make a person feel better about themselves, endermologie cellulite treatments might be worth looking into.

You are not alone if you have problems with cellulite; about eighty percent of women have cellulite somewhere on their body. For centuries, women have looked for a cure to cellulite. In recent times a treatment has come along that does work. The first thing people need to consider is the fact that you don't get cellulite from something you do or do not do. Three things cause cellulite: poor circulation, heredity and hormonal changes in the body. Creams will not heal cellulite conditions. The three things that cause cellulite results in a loss of elastic texture to the skin and the connective tissues under the skin. The loss of elastic texture causes an uneven distribution of the fat cells. This is why people can loose weight and still have cellulite. The skin always has some layer of fat underneath and no matter how small the layer the condition will still exist because of the underlying connective tissue. Creams are not effective because they cannot take the fat off your body. A new laser treatment has become available that attacks the root cause of cellulite. This new form is called TriActive cellulite treatment. It is a handheld laser device that attacks cellulite in three ways. At first, it enhances the flow of blood and softens the connective tissues. The softening of the connective tissues has proven effective in changing the appearance of the skin in other treatments. The stimulated blood flow and drainage facilitates the sweeping away of the existing cellulite. The third part is that is shrinks the fat cells down and reduces their amount of swelling. Cellulite causes cells to become larger than their original size. By draining and reducing the cells, they return to their pre-cellulite appearance, which helps the contour of the skin. The benefits of TriActive are the fact that is attacks cellulite from the inside, which is something treatments applied on the outside of the skin, can never do. TriActive actually changes the structure of the cell. Clinical reports conducted with TriActive have proven that it does work. Individuals treated with TriActive lost forty percent of their cellulite after eight treatment sessions. After additional treatments, the cellulite continued to be removed. Another benefit is that the laser treatment is painless and it can be effective on anyone regardless of their age. Cosmetic doctors recommend a specific regiment of TriActive for cellulite cure. This is usually six to twelve treatments of twenty minutes each over a two to three months period. After the body's skin has received the desired appearance the patient wants, only one treatment a month is necessary for upkeep. A typical TriActive treatment costs between seventy-five and one hundred fifty dollars per treatment session. This also helps make TriActive one of the cheaper cellulite cures available on the market today. Having an available laser treatment to cure your of your cellulite is great news. Just a few years ago, there was nothing on the cosmetic market that made any noticeable difference in cellulite. The days of being frustrated over your attempts to improve your appearance are gone.

As a teenager, I never had any weight problems. I ate as much as I wanted, and I drank Coca Cola as often as I pleased. However, I noticed that when I turned 23, my metabolism started to slow down. At the age of 23, I stopped being skinny and started having weight issues. I was starting to gain weight because of my bad eating habits and my love for junk food. It didn’t help that I had no exercise whatsoever. Needless to say, soon, my older sister noticed dimples on my thighs and my arms. Until now, there has been no clear scientific explanation for the appearance of cellulite. Many have attributed cellulite to metabolism, gender and even genetics. In my case, the cause might be all three! My mother has cellulite as well so it is quite safe to say that I am genetically predisposed to cellulite. Thankfully, modern science has produced many solutions to our cellulite problem. One of these is the popular Synergie Cellulite Treatment. If you are afraid of needles and surgery, this is the best cellulite treatment for you because the Synergie Cellulite Treatment is non-surgical and non-invasive. Instead of a surgical procedure wherein one is put under considerable risk, undergoing the Synergie Cellulite Treatment is easier and safer. It is basically just the same as having a normal massage treatment. This cellulite treatment uses the Vacuum Massage Technology. This procedure gets rid of the fat cell fluids which cause cellulite, thus decreasing water retention and reducing the chances of cellulite forming in your body. Further, unlike surgical procedures, the Synergie Cellulite Treatment does not leave any scarring, and has proven to be a very effective method. In addition to achieving smoother skin, this treatment also tightens skin and reduces inches around the area on which it is done. This treatment has also been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. Once a person undergoes the Synergie Cellulite Treatment, she should remember that maintenance is the key to achieving success in reducing cellulite. One visit to the doctor is not enough; one has to go through multiple sessions of this treatment which lasts for approximately 30 minutes each. Like any other program of its kind, patients undergoing this treatment are advised to watch their diet and exercise regularly. Just because you are getting a cellulite-reducing treatment, it doesn’t mean that one should be complacent. Discipline is also required to achieve superior results under the Synergie Cellulite Treatment. In addition, those thinking of undergoing the treatment but are worried at having to undress don’t have to worry. A bodysuit is provided to the patient to make the patient more comfortable and relaxed. In a time when dresses are getting shorter and shorts are becoming a fashion staple, it is definitely worth it to invest in the Synergie Cellulite Treatment to get the cellulite-free body that you have always wanted. Undergoing this treatment will not only make you healthier, but also more confident with your body.

New ways to treat cellulite keep showing up in the media and in scientific journals each year. Since so many people are interested in cellulite prevention and treatment, many entrepreneurs have taken advantage of people and have convinced them to let go of a lot of money when it comes to treatment options. Some of these treatments show small results, but many show no results at all. This can be very disconcerning to those who are desperate for help. Cellulite, is a fat that is produced by the body. Unlike body fat that settles around muscle and bone, cellulite stays just beneath the surface of the skin. This fat is not useful in any way. It cannot be burned for energy by the body, so it just lingers there. More cellulite can be produced at any time in almost any part of the body. It is embarrassing for most people, even those who exercise regularly. Cellulite is a burden to most people. A new therapy which involves ultraviolet light may offer a solution. This light is supposed to shrink cells that produce cellulite as well as the fat. Shrinking cells is not a new practice in the scientific world. For years, radiation therapy has been used to shrink cancer causing cells in the body. The difference here is the after effects. Many people are ill for a few days following this type of therapy. But ultraviolet light is not harmful to the body. A person may feel tired the next day, but this is not due to the therapy, but rather to the stress of the situation. Many people feel more comfortable using this type of light than having a procedure such as liposuction where incisions will be made in the skin. There is not cutting involved in light therapy. Another benefit is that light therapy does not take too much time. A person could fit an appointment into a lunch hour. This is much more convenient than liposuction which could also take a person a day or more to recover. There are a few concerns people may have when considering light therapy. Results have shown limited reduction in cellulite. The cost can be high considering it is recommended that follow-up treatments be administered. Light therapy is still new and experimental. A person could spend a lot of money and not see any results. As with any treatment, conduct as much research as possible. Get recommendations from others and ask if this treatment is worth spending money on. Lastly, ask plenty of questions during a consultation. The more a person knows about light therapy, the more they will be able to decide whether the treatment is worth it for them or not. Cellulite may return no matter which treatments are administered. There is no full proof way to prevent cellulite from returning. If a treatment does show positive results, perhaps it is worth going back for a second treatment. Only time will tell if light therapy is the treatment that is successful.

Many beauty salons and spas now offer a variety of treatments that all promise to eliminate cellulite. Pandering to the desperate needs of women wanting to achieve the body beautiful image so adored by the media, the cellulite business is huge. One treatment was developed in France some 12 years ago involves the use of a massage machine that was originally produced to give deep massage to injured horses. A side effect of the massage on the horses was noticed - smooth skin - and someone with an eye for an opportunity patented the machine for use on cellulite. The Endermologie® machine works by exerting a gentle vacuum on the skin. The skin is sucked up into a chamber where it is massaged to encourage the break down of the underlying fat allowing it, together with excess fluid and toxins, to be carried away by the blood and lymphatic systems. The treatment takes approximately 40 minutes and involves the client changing into what can only be described as a body stocking of white gauze like material before lying on a bed and being treated by the machine wielding therapist. If it hurts, the suction is too strong and needs to be reduced. The effects do seem to be impressive although regular treatments are required for maintenance. This can be both time consuming and costly. A body wrap is another salon option (although the determined can probably achieve this treatment at home with a bit of lateral thinking). Many claims are made for the effectiveness of body wraps including that they will tighten skin, treat dermatitis, reduce size (inches), banish cellulite and eliminate toxins. They certainly seem to do all of these things - temporarily. The process of having a body wrap usually involves undressing completely and donning a pair of unflattering paper knickers before being covered in whatever substance that particular salon promotes. Sometimes this will be a marine type gel, others use a clay based substance and some use a mix of Dead Sea minerals. The body is then effectively mummified - the therapist envelopes every part in bandages. Sometimes these bandages are presoaked in another solution to assist with the drawing out of impurities. Some body wrap systems wire the client up to a machine that emits a low current to stimulate circulation and elimination even further. This apparently feels like an army of ants walking up your extremities. The client is usually left, sometimes under a heated blanket, for anything up to 90 minutes for the wrap to work its magic. Once the treatment time is over the bandages are removed and, depending on the nature of the treatment substance used, the excess may need to be showered off before dressing and going home. Once again there appears to be no doubt that this treatment offers an immediate improvement in the tone and appearance of the skin and inches are indeed lost. However, the effects are once again temporary and repeated treatments are required to keep problems at bay.
